I use a manual push mower, it’s very relaxing, and makes for a good cut.

and saves gas for cars!

it is a pretty fun job

pretty hard work when youve neglected to do it often enough and allowed the grass to get too long tho

but well.. thats my fault

I am suddenly now wondering what would happen if I ran the push mower through the snow... oh my gosh how come I have to wait ~6 months for more snow!@?!?!?!?!

Growing up we had a power reel mower, great cut on that guy . I wish we had a manual one but my dad was having none of that. My grandparents would have their lawns professionally mowed, and they use the forward firing reel mower which is just a beast of a unit.

Kinja'd!!!

I on the other hand, can’t afford a home with it’s own, non strata managed lawn, so I don’t get to do any of these things.

just buy a hand mower and go mow public bits of grass :p

get the same funny looks i get for sweeping the bike paths over here

(yeah i know its not my job... it is my tires tho and someones gotta move the broken glass)

That’s how my dad made me mow his lawn, a “small yard” becomes very big very fast on a 97 degree day with that thing.

You’re a good person and I would like to aspire to be like that. It’s ride to work week this week in Vancouver, and some of the bike paths haven’t been cleaned since last summer. I emailed the municipal governments of each city I passed through that had bad bike paths, as these are a bit too big to manually sweep (and next to a dangerously busy road).

You know, buying a mower to mow random grass would be a great thing, but I don’t want to put it back inside my RDX after it loads up with green grass dye.

odd coincidence

Today I couldn’t fire-up a mower that hasn’t been used since the week before Hurricane Michael. So in Florida heat I mowed a half- acre with a 21"-wide Scott’s reel mower that I’d bought via Amazon for $70 two years ago.

I’d love a gas powered reel mower, they just seem to really not be around anymore.

Either that, or one of those magnesium deck Lawn Boys, those were sweet.

They are around, but to the tune of 2 plus grand, thanks but no thanks.
